Bookworm expects onslaught of Jack and Noah’s fans due to door buster sale

Omaha, NE (AP)  Black Friday is always a little crazy at Countryside Village, but the 2013 version promises to be a doozy.  In addition to the normal Black Friday calamity, the retailers and shoppers there will also have to deal with the thousands of Jack and Noah’s Big Day fans who are expected to converge on The Bookworm.

The previously announced ‘door buster’ sale at The Bookworm has been upgraded to include a special price for Jack and Noah’s Big Day.  Even though crazed fans are paying up to $40 on-line for an autographed copy of Jay Slagle’s book, The Bookworm is offering it for just $9.99.  This is truly a great value, since a columnist at the Omaha World Herald could eventually write that Jack and Noah’s Big Day the “most influential children’s book of this generation.”  The World Herald could also write that “Slagle needs to go back on his meds,” but the World Herald will write just about anything to sell newspapers.  (Fortunately, fiction authors are generally not this desperate.)

“We’re worried,” admitted a college-aged Bookworm employee as she jogged across the parking lot for the start of her shift.  “These child-lit fans are absolutely bonkers.  The pent-up energy among child-lit fans has been increasing since the last Harry Potter book was released in July 2007, and it’s going to blow with this amazing deal.  Jay Slagle’s already a legend on his block, and I’ve been told that he’s almost famous in Dundee."

Slagle is also scheduled for a book signing at The Bookworm on Saturday, December 7 from 12:00-2:00.  The Bookworm is ordering sandbags and ten bodyguards for Slagle’s appearance.  Slagle rarely is seen in public, preferring to spend his days writing stupid Twitter and Facebook postings.

Slagle couldn’t be reached for comment.  He had a mani-pedi and a hot-stone massage scheduled for all day today, and his publicist wife refused to bother him.  “He gets very cranky if you interrupt him before his cleansing process is complete,” she explained.

Jack and Noah’s Big Day by Jay Slagle is available for $9.99 at the Bookworm bookstore at 8702 Pacific in Omaha or on-line at Amazon.  Learn more about the book at www.jayslagle.com.  Follow his ‘20 Days of Stupidity’ project from November 23rd thru December 12th on Twitter (JaySlagleWrites), Instagram (JaySlagleWrites), Facebook (JackAndNoahsBigDay) and his website (www.jayslagle.com).  The book is available for reservations at the Omaha Public Library.
