A ridiculous website devoted to a ridiculous book series

Author's marketing tactic is a big fail; tattoo artist can't spell

Dundee, NE (AP)  In a shameless attempt to raise the visibility of his new book, Jack and Noah’s Big Day, Jay Slagle has been aggressively stretching the boundaries of good taste.  In addition to subjecting the Omaha community to the ’20 Days of Stupid’ campaign, he also commissioned a body art professional to ink a highly-visible tattoo that promoted the book.  Unfortunately, the tattoo artist didn’t use spell check.

The tattoo now spells ‘Buy My Booc.’  Slagle’s helpful friends and family members immediately started a new Facebook page, “Fix Jay’s Head,” which has garnered over 1 million ‘likes’ at last report.  The Facebook page is collecting suggestions on how to overcome this spelling debacle.  Current suggestions include the following:

  • BUY MY BOOGER
  • BUY MY KABOOP
  • BUY MY BOOGIE BOARD
  • BUY MY BOOQ (French or Islamic for ‘book,’ right?)
  • BUY MY BOOOOOOOOOK, DUDE (like a surfer would say)
  • BUY MY BETTY BOOP
  • BUY MY BOBBER

Several Omaha plastic surgeons have already offered to perform surgery to help Slagle improve his appearance.  Unfortunately, none of the offers are related to the tattoo, but rather are to fix his crooked nose, droopy eyes and caved-in cheeks.  However, a local business has offered to provide free hair plugs with extra-long bags to cover up the tattoo.

Jonesy Jones, the artist-in-residence at Fat Jonesy's Tattoos, Tacos and Burritos, defended his work when Slagle's plight became public knowledge.  "Oh, come on man, people don't come to me to write novels.  I draw things, and about the only words I ever tattoo are 'Mom,' 'Love' and 'Forever.'  Except usually people come back to me in a few years and have me make the 'Forever' tattoo into a black rectangle...."
